Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced today that the president has nominated Army National Guard Col. Steven L. Bell for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. Bell is currently serving as assistant adjutant general, New Jersey Joint Force Headquarters, Trenton, N.J.

New Secretary of The Army Sworn In - Dr. Francis J. Harvey was sworn in today at the Pentagon as the 19th Secretary of the Army

NAVY

Navy Rear Adm. Jeffrey B. Cassias is being assigned as commander, Submarine Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Cassias is currently commander, Navy Region Northeast/commander, Submarine Group Two, Groton, Conn. and commander, Submarine Group Ten, Kings Bay, Ga.

Navy Rear Adm. (lower half) Michael H. Miller is being assigned as commander, Carrier Strike Group Seven, San Diego, Calif. Miller is currently deputy director, White House Military Office, Washington, D.C.

Northrop Grumman Corporation
(NYSE: NOC) has named Catherine Kuenzel vice president of field operations in the company's Information Technology (IT) sector.

EADS Military Aircraft
As of 1 December, Dr. Theodor Benien is the new Head of Communications in the Military Aircraft Business Unit of EADS. Wolfdietrich Hoeveler (56), who held this function for over five years, will take up a new position as Head of Communications at Eurofighter GmbH in Hallbergmoos effective today.
